Trust Technique Consultations
What is the Trust Technique®?
The Trust Technique® is a gentle, positive and non-dominant method that uses mindfulness to create a peaceful environment in which animals and humans can develop a deep connection, healing and mutual trust. The Technique was founded by James French and his partner Shelley Slingo in 2007. With the Trust Technique, we help the animal lower their thinking levels and teach them to be peaceful. They learn to become non-reactive to negative triggers and this provides deep healing to themselves and to their relationship with their human. Working with the Trust Technique principles can provide many benefits:
With the Trust Technique, we are changing the way we work with animals and the way we address their behavioural issues. We work at the animal’s pace with peace, patience, persistence, purpose and gratitude. You can find out more about the Trust Technique® here (affiliated link). My Trust Technique journey so far I have always been fascinated with the animal-human connection and this led me to James French and his website in 2010. The first videos I watched were the videos of Ares the lion and the amazing difference the Trust Technique brought to his wellbeing. I started practising with my two dogs and saw a big improvement. I was convinced and never looked back. In 2014, I had the privilege to attend an in-person Trust Technique clinic with James and Shelley at Mane Chance Sanctuary, UK. This was a life-changing experience and I ended up volunteering a few weekends to help at the sanctuary until 2016. In September 2023, I qualified as a Trust Technique Practitioner for Large Animals and I am now working on completing the Domestic Animals Practitioner module. I love helping people and animals connect at a deeper level and heal together. Simply inviting an animal to join us into a peaceful state and giving them the opportunity to express what is troubling them in a non-judgmental and non-reactive way can bring a powerful shift to the animal-human relationship. The animal and their human feel listened to and understood. They can understand each other better and work as a team, as equal partners, with love, trust, and confidence. Trust Technique Consultations As a Trust Technique Practitioner, my role is to teach you about the Trust Technique, coach, support and hold the space for you and your animal to develop an authentic connection and a deep trusting relationship with each other. Through a 1:1 consultation structure and follow-up sessions, we work together at your animal's pace, with peace, regard, patience, persistence and purpose. I offer in-person consultations for Large Animals* in most of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and online consultations when in-person consultations are not feasible (Ireland, Northern Ireland and International). *Large Animals: e.g. horses, donkeys, mules, alpacas, llamas, cattle, goats, pigs, sheep, bears, wolves, lions, tigers, elephants!... New clients: Pre-consultation 15 min assessment (phone or online) - Free This short chat is scheduled prior to the initial in-person consultation to gather information about your animal and you, to assess your current set up and situation, and how the Trust Technique can benefit your relationship. A quote will be provided during our chat and there is no obligation to proceed. An online consultation may be offered if the travelling distance is not time and cost-effective and logistics allow. *Consultation fees may vary depending on your animal's location and number of follow-up sessions booked (if applicable). Travel fees apply outside of a 20km radius and include fuel, tolls and travel time. A quote will be provided during the free pre-consultation assessment. Initial in-person consultation (at your animal's location): €120 (+ travel fees if applicable)* During this first consultation, I will conduct a risk assessment, and if the environment is conducive to the Trust Technique, I will give you an overview of the Trust Technique and how it can benefit your animal and you, followed by a demo with your animal. I will then teach you the Trust Technique and observe you practising the technique with your animal, providing you with feedback and support. Duration: 1.5hr to 2hrs. Existing clients: In-person refresher/follow-up session (at your animal's location): €90 (+ travel fees if applicable)* These follow-up sessions are to check-in about your progress, provide additional support, answer any questions you may have, and help you apply the Trust Technique to resolve specific issues or situations. Duration: 1hr to 1.5hr. [Online follow-up session(s) may be also be offered depending on your situation, your animal's location and logistics.] In-person 1:1 follow-up session with your animal only: €70 (+ travel fees if applicable)* During these follow-up sessions, I will be working directly with your animal in a 1:1 capacity and doing most of the Trust Technique groundwork for you, providing additional support to get you and your animal started on this journey. Once the first principle of the Trust Technique is well established, I will hand the process over to you and your animal to continue to deepen your connection and develop trust with each other. Further support will be available as part of the normal follow-up session process. Duration: 1hr to 1.5hr. Please note multiple in-person follow-up sessions may be required for your particular situation. Online check-in between sessions - €30 for 30 min For any urgent questions or topics to review before our next appointment. International clients (Online only): Pre-consultation 15 min assessment - Free Online sessions are logistics dependent and as such there will be some slight variations and adjustments to the consultation flow and structure, compared to an in-person consultation. We will discuss logistics and fees during this pre-consultation chat and there is no obligation to proceed. IMPORTANT: The Trust Technique is a complementary therapy that works in conjunction with conventional and other complementary modalities and is not a substitute for medical or behavioural treatments. I cannot guarantee that Trust Technique sessions will provide results, improve the quality of life for an animal, cure a disease or fix a specific behaviour. Working with the Trust Technique requires time, patience and commitment, always working at your animal's pace. It is a special journey to be shared with your animal and not a quick-fix. Please note that learning and practising the Trust Technique is for your private use and your own animal(s) only. "How it is that animals understand things I do not know, but it is certain that they do understand. Perhaps there is a language which is not made of words and everything in the world understands it. Perhaps there is a soul hidden in everything and it can always speak, without even making a sound, to another soul."
